When you fill up at Twice Daily, you may have noticed trees at the pumps. Those trees are an impactful result of our partnership with The Arbor Day Foundation. The ADF has been an essential partner in helping us to fulfill our mission of making a positive environmental impact in our communities.
The Arbor Day Foundation is a nonprofit conservation and education organization of nearly one million members with a mission to inspire people to plant, celebrate and nurture trees. It’s one of the world’s largest conservation nonprofits dedicated to planting trees and they plant and distribute more than 10 million trees each year. In addition to their work dedicated to planting trees, ADF also runs the Tree City USA program in 3,300 communities across the country. The program honors cities and towns that are committed to planting and nurturing trees. Tree City USA celebrates the importance of an urban tree canopy and improves care of these vital city trees.
ADF also works with the U.S. Forest Service to plant trees in America’s national forests and the National Association of State Foresters to plant trees in state forests. Through donations from members and partners, the Foundation has helped the Forest Service plant more than 20 million forestland trees since 1990. And ADF’s Nature Explore Program provides resources for childcare centers, elementary schools, preschools and parks to connect children with nature.
The Arbor Day Foundation recently launched The Time For Trees initiative. Recognizing the many global crises facing humanity – pollution, poverty, shifting weather patterns – the ADF launched the initiative to take action to address these problems … through trees. Trees are an important part of the solution to many critical issues facing the planet. The foundation has big goals: by 2022 – the 150th anniversary of Arbor Day – they plan to plant 100 million trees in forests and communities around the globe and inspire 5 million tree planters to help carry the mission forward.
We’re so proud to partner with ADF to help them fulfill their mission of making the planet greener and cleaner. To date, Thrive has planted 35,420 trees with the Arbor Day Foundation and we look forward to continued partnership in our shared mission of helping local communities thrive.
